{"id":21723,"date":"2022-12-01T15:08:53","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T09:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/demo.testctsl.in\/indiafirstepaper?p=21723"},"modified":"2022-12-01T15:08:53","modified_gmt":"2022-12-01T09:38:53","slug":"1971-dhaka-debacle-was-military-failure-bilawal-bhutto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/demo.testctsl.in\/indiafirstepaper\/2022\/12\/01\/1971-dhaka-debacle-was-military-failure-bilawal-bhutto\/","title":{"rendered":"1971 Dhaka Debacle was &#8216;Military Failure&#8217;: Bilawal Bhutto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exactly a week after former Pakistan Army Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa referred to the East Pakistan loss as a &#8220;political failure&#8221;, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in a thinly-veiled rejection of the claim insisted that the Dhaka debacle in 1971 was in fact a &#8220;military failure&#8221; that had brought host of challenges for the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto-led PPP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PPP chairman revisited the history of his party and recounted the achievements of its founder, reports Dawn news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He referred to the fall of Dhaka in 1971, when his grandfather took up the challenge to reunite the &#8220;disintegrated country&#8221; and &#8220;regain the lost glory&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;When Zulfikar Ali Bhutto took over the government, the people were broken and had lost all hope,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;But he rebuilt the nation, restored the confidence of the people and finally brought our 90,000 troops back home who had been made prisoners of war due to\u00a0 military failure&#8217;. Those 90,000 soldiers were reunited with their families. And that all was made possible due to politics of hope&#8230; of unity&#8230; and inclusion.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While addressing a Defence and Martyrs Ceremony at the General Headquarters last week, Gen Bajwa, in an attempt to &#8220;correct the record&#8221;, had made the claim: &#8220;I want to correct the record. First of all, the fall of East Pakistan was not a military but a political failure.
