Xiaomi has been a leader in the smartphone market by launching high-performance products at affordable prices in India. The company is also a market leader in the budget smartphone segment, with its premium smartphones launched at prices below Rs 15,000.

Its latest launch is the new Redmi 9 Power, which is a smartphone with superior performance on various parameters such as design, integrated features, battery capacity and display. The smartphone has many new hardware bits and features that make it different from other phones released so far by Xiaomi in India.

The Redmi 9 Power features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor and a 4 GB RAM. This combination is seldom seen in the smartphones used in India and can be a decisive factor for tech enthusiasts considering the new Redmi 9 Power. The new smartphone has a combination of dual speakers for better sound quality and a 6000 mAh battery that makes it a suitable one for long hours of activity and gaming. The phone comes with a 22.5W charger which promises fast and efficient charging.

Instead of a glass back or a metal body, the new Redmi 9 Power has a plastic body with a matte finish that has fine textured grooves in the back for better grip. The rounded design and curved back along with the drop-resistant body make it a great phone for all seasons and occasions and to carry it on the go. The plastic body not only cuts manufacturing cost for the company but also gives the phone a splash-resistant feature that keeps it safe from accidental water splashes.

Unlike its contemporaries, the Redmi 9 Power has a fingerprint sensor on its side which is more accessible and also acts as a touch-sensitive power button. The sensitivity of the sensor is great as the phone unlocks instantly when the sensor is touched. The phone also comes with a Type-C charging port. Additionally, the phone has perforations for a secondary speaker apart from the usual ports for IR, mic and headphone jack. The secondary speakers are a great add-on for the Redmi 9 Power as the feature is not usually seen in the price segment that the phone is launched in. The phone is able to produce stereo sound to amplify the experience of gaming and video watching.

The phone comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ unit, which is still a better display feature than those offered by other phones in its price segment. The Redmi 9 Power has a MIUI 12 with Android 10 operating system which still suffers some lagging and glitches in performance and offers an average user experience. The functions of the phone lack smoothness in certain areas and thus it is not the best-performing smartphone out there. However, the phone does offer a smooth and immersive gaming experience. The 48 MP rear camera in a quad camera setup shoots clear and high-resolution pictures and is great for photography.

Overall, the Redmi 9 Power is great value for money given its price tag of a little more than Rs 10,000.
